Hello Friends

Welcome to Learn Music – Carnatic Music Lessons

If you’re new here, my name is Sudha Subramanian.

This channel is your virtual music class.

The next Kriti we’re going to learn is Pahi Ramachandra in the ragam Sankarabaranam composed by Saint Tyagaraja.

Saint Thyagaraja composed a set of songs to sing collectively or as a chorus, as an expression of bhakthi and bhajana tradition. They came to be known as Divyanama keerthanas.

These krithis basically deal with Nama Mahatmya. They are generally in the Lambaka style i.e. One pallavi and multiple charanams with similar melody structure.

There are 78 compositions in the group called Divyanama kirtanas.
